Meditation is easy…unless you have constant chatter going on in your mind. I can’t tell you how many time I have, in ernest, tried to quiet my mind and meditate for at least five minutes. I will start off with the deep breaths, followed by the quiet calm then drift off to what cloths I want to wear in the morning; or my grocery list; what I can donate to downsize more; why is this pillow so lumpy, etc. Then I look up at the clock only to see that I’ve meditated for about 60 seconds.
So I found a trick that works for me. Instead of trying to empty my mind, I just focus on just one thing, one small goal I want to accomplish in my life. I focus on reaching that goal and not structure HOW I’m going to reach it, but the final results. The “how” will always come later.
This works for me – What works for you?
